Success Story – Asset Management

IGS supported the application of a rich data source to support our Asset Management client in optimising its maintenance programme.

The Problem

The process followed by an asset owning franchise who operated to iso 55000 for inspection and maintenance required duplication of effort through visual, human inspection. With the procurement of detailed data from a tram filled with a high number of sensors (test tram), an opportunity was identified to reduce duplication and worker risk.

The Challenge

Whilst the team were interested in the use of this information, it was unclear how to best make use of the data from a storage, analysis and visualisation perspective.

Additionally, recipients of the data outputs in some circumstances were not confident in the results acquired solely from automated systems.

Our Solution

IGS supported the development of a business case and action plan, highlighting the benefits of the use of this data to “double” access windows for electrical infrastructure maintenance work. This included facilitating validations of data integrity and suitability assessments for high-risk areas of the tram network.

Benefits

  • A clear rationale focusing on benefits for maintenance, safety and data integrity
  • Working with team members to confirm the analysis & visualisation approaches to support maintenance work
  • Defined approach to adjusting work orders to prioritise areas that need the most attention, and
  • Established reallocation methods for sections planned for work that do not require maintenance.
